On Memorial Day - Gaylen & I took the kids to "This is the Place" monument in SLC.  Neither of us had been there since we were kids - my, my how things have changed!!  There is a whole 'town' complete with townspeople dressed in period clothing!  It was so fun!  It was also baby animal day - the little kids LOVED that!  Patrick did catch and hold a bunny though!  So fun!  We were able to see how many things were done in Pioneer time.  It was a really great place to see!  We ran out of time - I think we will have to visit again!!  What a great day!!

Mrs. Sheffield & Wyatt & Aslan

Wyatt's class had the most awesome day today!!  His (amazing) teacher, Mrs. Sheffield, loves the Chronicles of Narnia books.  So, today was Narnia day!  It has been in the works for almost the entire school year and today I realized why we started talking about it so early in the school year!  It took so much work and effort on many people's part!!  The kids started in the gym watching an 'intro' movie, then they met with 'Uncle Andrew' (from the Magician's Nephew), went on a scavenger hunt, each of the kids were assigned a name (Peter, Edmund, Susan or Lucy), rode the 'train', then, visited the spare room and went through the wardrobe.  The kids were divided into groups - each group met with Mr. & Mrs. Beaver, Mr. Tumnus (and learned a lullaby on the recorder), the (very scary) White Witch and the warriors.  They met up with Father Christmas (who armed them with shields!), they were treated to a special lunch and then, they went to the battlefield!!  The kids faced off again the (evil) parents (who were mostly dressed in black).  We had a battle complete with 'flour' bombs!!  IT WAS AWESOME!  Then, after the White Witch died - there was a coronation (complete with crowns) and special desserts!  :)  It was amazing!!  I am in AWE at the parents that threw so much behind this day!  And Mrs. Sheffield?!  I think she is about the most amazing third grade teacher I have ever seen!!
Unfortunately, the pictures really don't do the day justice.  I found myself getting caught up in the day and forgot to take a lot of pictures!!  I didn't get pictures of the White Witch, Father Christmas, Mr. & Mrs. Beaver or the Magicians.  :(  They were all fabulous!!  I am so grateful for everyone who put so much into making this day so special!!

Me & Brenna

Gaylen's son Matt got married on Thursday!  It was a BEAUTIFUL day!!  Nicole was radiant and Matt is so obviously in love with her and her two sweet kids!!  It was really a special day!  Matt & Nicole were married on top of the Wight House in Bountiful and then had a reception at a church after.  The church was decorated so pretty - it didn't even look like the inside of a cultural hall.  :)
Congratulations Matt & Nicole!  We are so happy for all four of you!!  Love you!
