What is new?

Wyatt just can't stay mad at me.  He named ME his hero on his "All about Me" assignment.  He says I fix him home lunches whenever he wants (not quite true).  I just wanted to post his pouty face picture!  :D  Isn't he cute?

Brenna decided to get her hair cut.  I told her she had to at least get a trim but she ended up taking 3-4 inches off.  It looks super cute on her and is so easy.  I love it.  What I really like - it was totally her choice!  She wanted to surprise me so I couldn't even look until Shelba was all done.
Her cut seems to suit her.
Patrick has wanted a guitar for some time now.  He plays trombone in the school band and also played the snare drum in the NHS marching band.  He loves music!  He told me he would like to be a band teacher but worries about supporting a family.  I told him he had plenty of time to worry about THAT!  I just want him to do his best at whatever it is he does.  I am really proud of him.  He found this (gently) used guitar at a yard sale and hasn't put it down since.  He is after me to get him a Teach Yourself Book.  Next, he says he wants a DRUM SET!!  (oh my!)

One other new thing - Gaylen got put in our stake's High Council today.  He is a bit stressed about it but I know he will be fabulous.  He will truly miss Bishop Berg and Brother Dearden though.  He has an awful lot of respect for them both.  I will miss seeing him at church on Sundays but know he is where he is supposed to be.

First Day of School!!!

Brenna goes all day now.  I cried the whole way home this morning.  She is so happy though - how can I be sad?!  She is growing up so fast!!  She loves her new teacher!!
Wyatt is in fourth grade this year.  He loves his teacher as well!  I am hoping for another great year!
On his way into his classroom....
All excited for the first day!!!
Patrick's awesome new shoes.  He says they are his favorite new thing!!  FuNkY!!!!
Patrick's first day of ninth grade.  I cannot believe how grown up he is getting!

Today was the first day of school around here.... the kids were all pretty excited.  Patrick is thrilled to be a big bad ninth grader.  He didn't have to go to school until 10:30a this morning - he thought that was pretty cool.
Wyatt was up and ready before I knew it!  He is very excited about his new class.  He loves he new teacher.  I am hoping this will be a fantastic school year!
Brenna started first grade.  That means she will be gone ALL DAY!!  I am more than a little sad about that but she is so thrilled.  I will just grin and bear it!!  She is pretty excited about going to a new school (The K-2 school is complete.  The kids didn't have to start in portables!!)  Woo hoo
I am hoping for another great year.  I expect a lot from these kids - they are all hardworkers - I know they can do anything they set their minds to....
HaPpY ScHoOl YeAr!!!
Summer Wrap Up
We had such a great summer!  We were so busy playing that I didn't update our blog much at all.  We went to A LOT of parades - Patrick played on the NHS Marching Band for the first time.  He was on the drum line.  He had a super great time and was so dedicated.  It gave me chills to see him in each parade - he is growing up so fast!  He was so focused and serious about drum line!  He also attended German camp and Boy Scout Camp - he loved both.  He is almost to his "Life Rank" in Scouting - he only has to complete a Scoutmaster conference and Board of Review.  The next rank is Eagle - I am so proud of his hard work!!
Wyatt was my pal at all the parades!  He was taking piano but sadly, his teacher found out she had cancer and stopped teaching.  We are working on getting a new teacher.  He is still practicing and wants to work hard to make Kathie (his former teacher) proud!  Wy is always so willing to help out around here.  :D  I really appreciate all of his hard work!
Brenna had a dance recital, she performed at the county fair and in SW Country Fair days.  She loves to dance!  (I think she loves the make-up and fussing too.)  She was also in two parades - she was a junior SJHS cheerleader and with her dance group.
We went to the Zoo, the park, the aquarium, parades, the Oaks, swimming, the Gateway, rode the FrontRunner, went to the drive- in and basically had a super fun summer.  I am so glad to have my kids home for the summer.  We really have a super time.  It makes me sad when it is time to start school again....but I get over it pretty quickly!!  (wink, wink)
I decided to post some of my favorite pics of summer memories!!
